8: The Mormon Proposition exposes the Mormon Church’s historic involvement in the promotion and passage of California’s Proposition 8 and the religion’s secretive campaign against gay rights. As California’s anti-gay marriage Proposition 8 languished in the polls, Mormon Prophet Thomas S. Monson issued a call from Salt Lake City to millions of Mormons all over the world. His was an order to action – containing the secret code language of the highly secret Mormon temple ceremony – commanding Mormons both inside and outside of California to do all things necessary to insure the passage of California’s Proposition 8. Within days, hundreds of thousands of Mormons all over the United States funneled thirty million dollars in to California to ensure the passage of Proposition 8. It wasn’t until the California Fair Political Practices Commission launched an investigation into the Church’s involvement did the secrets of the Mormon effort become a matter of record.

"When You’re Strange" uncovers historic and previously unseen footage of the illustrious rock quartet and provides new insight into the revolutionary impact of its music and legacy. Directed by award-winning writer/director Tom DiCillo and narrated by Johnny Depp, the film is a riveting account of the band’s history. The film reveals an intimate perspective on the creative chemistry between drummer John Densmore, guitarist Robby Krieger, keyboardist Ray Manzarek and singer Jim Morrison — four brilliant artists who made The Doors one of America’s most iconic and influential rock bands. Using footage shot between the band’s 1965 formation and Morrison’s 1971 death, "When You’re Strange" follows the band from the corridors of UCLA’s film school, where Manzarek and Morrison met, to the stages of sold-out arenas.

Beating out some of the most poignant and powerful films of the last decade, this gripping, edge-of-your-seat whodunit catapulted to the top of "must see" lists everywhere when it emerged to win the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. A mesmerizing thrill ride, Murder on a Sunday Morning is invigorating and heart-wrenching at the same time–the stuff suspense novelists only dream of writing.
Jacksonville, Florida, May 2000. Mary Ann Stephens is shot in the head at point blank range in front of her husband. Two hours later, Brenton Butler, a 15 year old black male, is arrested walking down a nearby street. Mr. Stephens identifies him. Butler signs a confession. Everyone involved with the case, from investigators to journalists, is ready to condemn Butler, except his lawyer, Patrick McGuiness. A dazzling and magnetic presence of Hollywood proportions, McGuiness reopens the inquiry, and in a dramatic and absolutely spine-tingling sequence of events, he and his team discover a slew of shocking and troubling elements about the case. Did Brenton write his own confession? Where is the concrete evidence? And most importantly, can the police be lying?

"Earthlings" is an award-winning documentary film about the suffering of animals for food, fashion, pets, entertainment and medical research. Considered the most persuasive documentary ever made, "Earthlings" is nicknamed “the Vegan maker” for its sensitive footage shot at animal shelters, pet stores, puppy mills, factory farms, slaughterhouses, the leather and fur trades, sporting events, circuses and research labs. The film is narrated by Academy Award® nominee Joaquin Phoenix and features music by platinum-selling recording artist Moby. Initially ignored by distributors, today "Earthlings" is considered the definitive animal rights film by organizations around the world. “Of all the films I have ever made, this is the one that gets people talking the most,” said Phoenix. “For every one person who sees ‘Earthlings’, they will tell three.”

Bring home the magic, artistry and phenomenal acrobatics of Corteo, the latest Cirque du Soleil show, captured in hi definition! Corteo, which means ‘cortege’ in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth. The clown pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. Juxtaposing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each of us. The music, by turns lyrical and playful, carries Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality.

In the timeless tradition of films like Winged Migration and Koyaanisqatsi, the theatrical phenomenon RIVERS AND TIDES depicts the magical relationship between art and nature while painting a visually intoxicating portrait of famed artist Andy Goldsworthy. Gorgeously shot and masterfully edited, the film follows the bohemian free spirit Goldsworthy all over the world as he demonstrates and opens up about his unique creative process. From his long-winding rock walls and icicle sculptures to his interlocking leave chains and multicolored pools of flowers, Goldsworthy’s painstakingly intricate masterpieces are made entirely of matierials found in Mother Nature–who threatens and often succeeds in destroying his artwork, sometimes before it is even finished. With over ten four-star reviews from the nation’s top critics, RIVERS AND TIDES serenely captures Goldsworthy in the midst of constructing his trademark ephemera on-camera, creating a mesmerizing cinematic experience that helps us to appreciate nature in new and enchanting ways.

One of America’s proudest achievements, our national infrastructure, is now its most dangerous embarrassment. Our bridges, dams, levees and highways are crumbling, toppling, being washed away, and putting American citizens and cities at risk. How could the most powerful nation on the planet let this happen? Narrated by Academy Award winner Richard Dreyfuss and featuring interviews with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists, noted scientists, whistleblowers who risked their lives and careers to speak out, and politicians from both sides of the aisle (including Barack Obama and John McCain), this searing documentary exposes the rampant collusion, corruption and cronyism within the government agencies whose very purpose is to protect us. It reveals how much-needed funding is misappropriated for questionable uses, how the Army Corps of Engineers is more concerned with self-serving transitions into corporate America, and how we’ve wasted taxpayer dollars building other nations’ infrastructures and not our own. It is the story of how lobbyists and greedy politicians funnel money to pet projects; how those sent to investigate and police abuses are often bribed into silence, and how shoddy planning and construction frequently contribute to the erosion and destruction of our cities. America Betrayed is both a cautionary tale for those who trust their government, and a wake-up call to Washington – and Americans everywhere.
