A Fish Called Wanda – Charles Crichton
John Cleese plays barrister Archie Leach, who becomes discombobulated when Wanda (Jamie Lee Curtis), the lady friend of a gangster he is defending, makes a pass at him. Actually, Wanda wants to extract information out of Cleese about some diamonds that she and her boyfriend have hoisted with the help of her "brother" Otto (Kevin Kline) and an animal-rights freak (and mob flunky) named Ken (Michael Palin). Wanda wants those diamonds for herself, and Ken has already been subjected to her feminine wiles. Wanda hopes that by playing off her dreams against all three–the barrister, the animal-loving mobster and her gangster boyfriend–the confusion will allow her to escape with all the goodies. In addition to starring, John Cleese wrote the hilarious "poke-fun-at-everything" script for this international hit.
